A Million Fools (Poem)

Hey, I'm back! And I've written yet another poem about broken hearts. What a shock. This time its about those annoying crushes who lead us on with empty promises, and no commitment on their end, but you just can't walk away from them, despite it being the healthy thing to do (we've all been there).
Read, and have old wounds opened up before you.
Enjoy!

A MILLION FOOLS

A million boys,
a million toys.
A million hearts,
a million darts.
A million plays,
a million ways.
A million dates,
a million rates.
A million eyes,
a million lies.
A million schools,
a million fools.

And I'm one of them.
Eaten, and coughed out as phlegm.
Discarded on a tissue,
without hearing the words; “I'll miss you”.

Never once thought about,
never heard a cheer or shout.
But that's what you get from a crook,
when they keep you on the hook.

It came to me, only too late,
that expectations are truly great,
and in order to win the game,
you must be broken, stricken and lame.

On, and on it goes,
a never ending series of woes,
yet we always ask for more.
And, so, therefore:

A million days,
a million strays.
A million songs,
a million throngs.
A million things,
a million flings.
A million gifts,
a million rifts.
A million highs,
a million byes.
A million sirs,
but only one her.
